WHAT'S HAPPENED TO 302/310/317 OUTPUT IN ASE 15?

Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 15 incorporates novel "state of the art" query processing technology capable of coping with diverse workloads from OLTP to DSS.

Pre ASE15, curious users would use trace 302/310/317 to peek inside the query processor. However, with ASE 15 comes a plethora of new diagnostics output all of which have been integrated into Sybase Central/DBISQL framework.

This presentation will demonstrate how advanced ASE 15.0.2 diagnostics are fed-back to the user via both DBISQL and isql clients. In short, what has happened to 302/310/317 output in ASE15. After this presentations, users will be able to interpret and understand:

  - query plans
  - query costs
  - were stats missing?
  - obtain Abstract Plans for "free"
  - collect optdiag outputs/database schema via a GUI
  - how to gather information if you need to log a support call.
