During this session Raymond explored the general internals of ASE backup server to help troubleshoot and meet your SLAs to the business. He included topics such as general architecture of backup servers and sybmultbuf processes, dump formats, data security and privacy issues, compression, common errors, and the backup server API. He explored performance and tuning options as well as alternative backup strategies such as quiescence and copy and replication. And, the use of the archive database access feature to provide object-level recovery capabilities and off-line DBCC.
