In 2003 Sybase on Linux became a reality for business
and performance critical applications. In 2004 the floodgates for production servers
are likely to open. This Masterclass reviewed the current state of ASE and Replication
Server on Linux. Latest versions, current platform support, data migration and
upgrade issues were covered, and an update provided on performance testing - lessons
learned and results achieved - during the 2nd half of 2003. There were more contributions
to the device types debate, and a perspective on 64 bit support (which is expected
to go GA not long after the time of the class).
